In conjunction with architects, designers, and hotel managers, Duravit offers tailored concepts that are perfectly attuned to the requirements of the hotel sector – from innovative design and highest levels of comfort through to sustainable technologies.
Alexander Bech, Managing Director Duravit Spain, gives some insights into Duravit’s expertise in the hotel segment and the special requirements of the hospitality sector.
1. How has the collaboration between Duravit and the international hotel sector changed?
The collaboration between Duravit and the hotel sector has developed a lot and has adapted not only to the more demanding requirements of the market, but also the high expectations of the guests. Whereas the focus in the past was on functional and durable products, nowadays tailored solutions that combine design, comfort, and sustainability are the order of the day. The collaboration with the hotels has developed from a pure supplier-customer relationship to a co-creation process in which we work together to define the perfect product for every room. Sustainable and technological innovations are at the heart of this transformation.
2. What trends and developments are you currently witnessing in the design of hotel bathrooms?
Over recent years the hotel bathroom has established itself as a place of luxury, wellbeing, and as a relaxing refuge. The current trend is towards spacious rain showers and bathtubs for a spa-like atmosphere. Modern technologies are becoming more important: smart mirrors and shower-toilets such as the SensoWash® ensure maximum levels of hygiene while lowering toilet-paper consumption – a win-win situation that saves resources and increases cost-efficiency. Sustainability remains a central aspect.
3. How does Duravit support hotels to create an extraordinary experience in the bathroom that at the same time prioritizes sustainability and durability?
Today’s hotels look for solutions that combine striking design and environmental awareness. Comfort is key in offering the guests a relaxed atmosphere, while the design needs to be not only visually appealing, but should also reflect the hotel’s brand identity. At the same time, with increasing environmental awareness, sustainability is becoming ever more of a factor, with a focus on energy-efficient and water-saving solutions. Duravit meets these requirements thanks to water-saving technologies such as the 4/2-liter flushing systems on toilets, or faucets with a MinusFlow function that reduces water consumption by 40 percent without sacrificing quality. Sanitary ceramic is a tried-and-tested material that has been used in bathroom construction for centuries. As a company with a tradition dating back more than 200 years, Duravit has taken the time to perfect its expertise. Its durable and robust ceramic products are of exceptional quality and undergo strict checks to meet our customers’ highest standards and to win their lasting loyalty.
4. What sets Duravit apart from other suppliers in terms of hotel projects?
One key benefit of Duravit is its ability to offer solutions that are individually tailored to the specific requirements of each hotel.
Key to project success is expert advice with close attention to detail in each project phase. From planning through to installation, Duravit works closely with architects, project managers, construction managers, and hoteliers to ensure that each project reflects the customer’s unique vision and guarantees the highest quality. Duravit’s products have a number of key qualities that make them suitable for intensive use in day-to-day hotel life: they are durable, robust, and easy to clean. From the use of recyclable materials, as with the Sustano shower tray, through to the integration of water- and energy-saving technologies, Duravit products additionally meet the highest environmental standards. This not only helps hotels to reduce their environmental footprint, but also increases company efficiency in the long term.
5. The Hotel Sallés Marina Badalona is an excellent example of how Duravit products can be integrated into the hotel business. What were the specific requirements of this project?
The Hotel Sallés Marina Badalona has different room types that are all furnished in very different ways. The products installed include selected design objects such as the iconic Starck Barrel, XSquare furniture, Cape Cod above-counter basins and consoles, SensoWash® shower-toilets, ME by Starck and Happy D.2 wall-mounted toilets as well as freestanding Cape Cod whirltubs. They blend perfectly into the luxurious hotel design and offer a special experience for the guest. Design consistency and quality were the highest priority, creating an aesthetic harmony that runs through the entire project. It was also important for sustainable technologies to be integrated. The SensoWash® Slim shower toilets offer a comfortable hygiene experience and reduce the consumption of toilet paper – benefiting both the environment and the hotel’s service quality.
