Urinals are sanitary fixtures, either mounted on the wall or permanently installed on the floor, which are used to urinate while standing. They are made of robust sanitary ceramics and are becoming increasingly popular as convenient additions to fully equipped bathrooms or guest bathrooms in private homes. Most urinals are specifically designed for men. Urinals are available in a wide range of designs and different versions. A basic distinction is made between urinals without a cover and urinals with a cover. Another distinction is made between classic flushing urinals and waterless urinals. Duravit models not only combine aesthetics, high-quality workmanship and functionality, but also meet the highest hygiene standards. This is due to the sophisticated flushing technologies we use. Simple elegance and a space-saving design complete the overall product.
How Does a Urinal Work?
A major advantage of urinals is the convenience factor. If you're in a hurry, you can take care of business standing up, which is extremely practical and convenient. Especially in multi-person households, a urinal can keep others from having to wait to use the bathroom. Being able to use the toilet while standing can also make life easier for a lot of people with restricted mobility. In addition to the convenience factor, urinals are extremely space-saving since they don't have a cistern and they are ideal in guest bathrooms. They are also easy to clean, which makes them very hygienic.
In the long run, urinals use less water than conventional toilets because they only use between a quarter and a half gallon of water per flush instead of three-quarters to one and a half gallons. This also helps keep your water bill down. Siphonic urinals require a lot less water to work, which means they are a step ahead in terms of environmental friendliness. Another plus is that they won't ever get backed up and the extraction siphon prevents unpleasant odors from developing - even with heavy use. Maintenance is also inexpensive thanks to low life-cycle costs and because repairs to the flush mechanism aren't necessary.

The hose diaphragm integrated into the outlet opens automatically when urine flows through and then closes again, effectively preventing any odors.

Tip: If you appreciate comfort and hygiene, a bidet makes a perfect addition to your bathroom. But if you want to save space and still enjoy a touch of luxury, a shower-toilet is the right choice for you.

Whether it's a urinal from the ME by Starck series with patented Duravit Rimless® technology or the timelessly modern Starck 3 urinal with its impressively simple design.
With its new Rimless technology, Duravit demonstrates how geometry, fluid mechanics and design can be successfully combined for maximum efficiency. Thanks to the open, easily accessible rim area, the bowl is particularly easy to keep clean, and this reduces cleaning times considerably.
The WonderGliss coating that is baked into the ceramic doesn‘t give grime a chance: dirt and limescale cannot secure a hold on the smooth surface, so residue runs off more easily with the water. Sanitary ceramics featuring WonderGliss stay smooth and clean for longer and are thus extremely easy to clean. All it takes is a soft cloth and mild cleaning agent.
