Double sinks in your bathroom impress above all with their two separate water faucets and their large ceramic features. They are naturally ideal for multi-person households, so two family members can get ready for the day - or ready for bed - at the same time. Double sinks are also available in different versions. One thing that all double sinks have in common is that they have two faucets. There are a number of options in terms of the ceramics. For bathrooms, you can choose between double sinks with two separate washbasins or with one large, continuous basin. As an alternative to the classic double sink, you can go with a washing area with two separate countertop sinks. For a relaxed routine and stress-free mornings!
Different Types of Double Sinks
Aus fachlicher Sicht werden Doppelwaschbecken als Keramik mit einem oder zwei Innenbecken definiert, From a technical point of view, double sinks are defined as ceramics with one large or two separate washbasins, which is/are equipped with two sink faucets. In everyday speech, it can also refer to two separate ceramics on a single piece of furniture. The following types of "double sinks" are possible in your bathroom:
1. Double sinks with two faucets and two washbasins:
This version is probably the most common type. In this case, there is one ceramic piece with two sunken basins separated from each other. This separation creates an additional storage area between them. This type of sink is equipped with two faucets, each of which is intended for one of the two washbasins. Matching bathroom vanity units are also available for Duravit double sinks.
2. Double sinks with two faucets and one large washbasin:
Here, the biggest difference from the first type is the ceramic portion. This type only has one large, continuous washbasin. However, this one washbasin still has two separate faucets. This type of double sink can also have a related vanity unit to support it.
3. Double sinks with two completely separate washbasins:
A third possibility for your bathroom might be a double sink with two completely separate washbasins. For example, two countertop sinks can be installed on a wide console countertop (or, optionally, on a vanity countertop). This type of installation requires two separate connections and siphons. Here, you can simply combine any two individual sinks that you wish, so you will be sure to find what you are looking for among our Duravit sinks.
Double sinks from Duravit are available in sizes from about 40 to 55 inches (100 to 140 cm). The double sinks in the smallest size (100 cm) are only available as a double sink with a single washbasin. The other sizes can be chosen freely. The following overview shows which types are possible with which sizes:

One ceramic piece with one washbasin and two faucets.
Double sinks – 47 inches (120 cm) wide:

The Perfect Matching Vanity Unit for Your Double Sink
When matching bathroom ceramics to the right piece of furniture and vice versa, special attention should be paid to the properties of the ceramics. Is it polished on the underside or unpolished? You can determine which vanity units will work based on this property and the size of the sink. These two types of ceramics are available:
1. Polished underside:
A polished washbasin ceramic is intended for the combination with a piece of furniture and must therefore be placed on a console countertop (or a vanity unit countertop). You can optionally expand on this design with a vanity unit or other supporting structure.
2. Unpolished underside:
Depending on the model, unpolished ceramics can either be directly mounted on the wall on their own or combined with a vanity unit. The underside is completely glazed so it can work on its own and be protected against chipping and other damage on all sides. For this reason, the chosen vanity unit should be intended for unpolished double sinks. They cannot be combined with a console or vanity countertop. As with all Duravit sinks, we also offer vanity units that are precisely engineered for our double sinks. This will create a perfect unit in terms of design, functionality and optimal use of space.
