If you decide to go with a bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, you should make sure there is enough clearance from walls and other bathroom furnishings so that your bathtub can be used from every direction if that is your intention. Your freestanding bathtub should be given the space it deserves in order for the design to really come into its own.

Our freestanding bathtubs come in two different size classes: The larger bathtub models measure about 6 feet long by 2.6 feet wide (180 x 80 cm), which means they can also be used as bathtubs for two. Smaller models, on the other hand, are about 5.25 feet long and 2.5 feet wide (160 x 75 cm). These naturally offer less interior space, but make it possible to enjoy the luxury of a freestanding bathtub even in somewhat smaller bathrooms. The dimensions given here are for guidance only and may vary slightly depending on the model. The drain pipe of a freestanding bathtub is significantly longer than that of a built-in bathtub, which can make installation with the right slope difficult. In addition, the water has to be fed in from the floor instead of from the wall. If the bathtub is installed as part of a remodel, you can expect some pretty major conversion work because the floor has to be opened up to lay the pipes and holes have to be drilled in the floor to connect them. This is an important consideration if you have underfloor heating and, if so, this work should be evaluated and carried out by experienced professionals.

Regardless of the material: White is definitely the most popular color for freestanding bathtubs. Freestanding bathtubs in black are extremely classy and their simple elegance is captivating. If you decide on a freestanding bathtub, you also have to think about finding the right faucet prior to installation. Faucets for freestanding bathtubs are generally available as either a floor-mount faucet or as a faucet integrated into the edge of the bathtub.

As the name suggests, floor-mount faucets are permanently installed on the floor next to the freestanding bathtub. Freestanding bathtub faucets often have a single-lever mixer. In our product range, you will also find a selection of floor-mount faucets in various designs. All of them come with a built-in holder for the supplied handheld shower head.

The alternative is a faucet installed on the edge of the partially freestanding or fully freestanding bathtub. This only works on bathtub models that have a wide rim, however, so it is fairly unusual. If the rim of your freestanding tub is not wide enough for a faucet, another alternative is to have one installed in a base built especially for the purpose.
